This section provides extensive information on the provision of medical and dental care in the US and should be read thoroughly, especially if a family member has a long term medical condition. Healthcare is primarily provided through US military medical facilities (known as Tricare); with the remainder covered through the MOD funded private plan, currently Meritain. MOD policy states that all medical treatment outside of a US military Medical and dental Treatment Facility (MTF) will be as per the NHS entitlement and as such some treatments in the US will not be covered. If you should be experiencing any Tricare issues regarding medical coverage or non-payment of medical bills, please contact your local BCAC Beneficiary Counselor and Assistance Coordinator office. You can locate your nearest BCAC office by clicking on this link. https://tricare.mil/bcacdcao
Communication with the Healthcare Team at BDSUS is usually through the [email protected]. This mailbox is accessed only by a small team of trained professionals who have all undergone Caldicott training in the protection of personal data. They will only seek information from you if it is required by the medical chain of command to allow the medical staff in the DGP to make an appropriate decision on your care pathway. You can further protect your own sensitive data by ensuring any bills you may receive from the US Health system are addressed correctly. Any information submitted in this way is used only for accessing care; it is not shared with the Chain of Command for other reasons.
